Types of Carving Used in Wood Craft of Rajasthan

Handicrafts in India reflect rich culture and tradition of country. These handicrafts are popular in whole world and are highly demanded. First one is sandalwood carving. The sandalwood is delicate and have aroma thus it is widely used in making decorative objects such as jewellery box, furniture and photo frame. This wood is also used in making incense sticks and sandalwood oil is used in making beauty products.
Inlay art is another type of wood carving. It enhances natural sheen beauty of wood by modulating it with other material. It includes embedding it with metal, plastic and other types of wood into plain surface wood in elegant way. This wood craft is used in decoration of tables, chair-backs and other smaller handicrafts. This wood is also decorated by colored lacquer which is famous from Udaipur. Tarakashi or wire inlay is a beautiful craft made of brass or copper wires decorated with polished surface of wood.
